Tsvangirai out of campaigning strategies
EDITOR — Embattled MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai has shown the world that he is not a political powerhouse.
Reports in the media say Tsvangirai is touring the country’s provinces, meeting with traditional leaders in an attempt to win them over ahead of elections scheduled for next year.
Among his recent strategies, Tsvangirai and his MDC-T party decided to boycott by-elections that have been held since the 2013 elections after an embarrassing thrashing by Zanu-PF.
Also, Tsvangirai has been inciting workers to revolt against the constitutionally-elected Government through mass stay-aways under NERA.
This unprofitable strategy was even tried by #ThisFlag, but failed.
Additionally, last year Tsvangirai moved around most tertiary institutions inciting students to violently confront the Government. None of the campaigns worked. Tsvangirai’s decision to conduct closed-door meetings with chiefs and village heads shows that the opposition leader is too desperate to secure electoral victory.
Tsvangirai’s spokesperson Luke Tamborinyoka imprudently claims that their new strategy of meeting chiefs is being done because previously chiefs were failing to attend their rallies. Surprisingly, Tsvangirai is on record disrespecting these traditional leaders and the country’s security forces.
Surely, how on earth will chiefs and village heads attend a rally of people who disrespect them?
Tsvangirai’s efforts are hopeless. Who would want to be bonded with a leader whose leadership everyone in his party is questioning?
Most of his party officials no longer trust his stewardship after endless defeats.
MDC leader Welshman Ncube, People’s Democratic Party leader Tendai Biti, to mention just a few, refused to work with Tsvangirai. Tsvangirai was given his time to deliver, but nothing positive came off him. In simple terms, Morgan is just a dead horse, he lacks the qualities of a good leader.
