WHAT went wrong in Singapore? Maybe we overrated our Charles Manyuchi. Despite my blind support for our pugilist, I am tempted to buy the rumoured notion that our boxer may have thrown the fight. To think the seemingly invincible Manyuchi buckled under three minutes is beyond comprehension. His skill and agility were nowhere near him. The man went to Singapore with a loss in mind and indeed he returned minus “our belt”. Yes, that belt belonged to Zimbabweans; Manyuchi was only the custodian of it. It belonged to the nation and losing that fight borders on “treason”. Anyway, what can we say and do, welcome back Manyuchi! Only you know what happened. — Thomas Murisa. Harare.

The new Cameroonian at Dynamos, Eqoupa Ntouba’s determination is missing in our current crop of footballers. This is what we long to be doused with in the new season. Even if the young import fails to achieve that dream and target of winning the golden boot, but at least the mere fact that we have unearthed someone who is so determined and inspired to make an immediate impact on his maiden voyage, is commendable. We hope he is going to set an example for not only his teammates, but for everyone in the world of football. — Felix Zonke, Harare.

The clarification by UNDP puts NERA’s trajectory to shame. NERA must always understand that politics is by nature an art of possible, legitimate, legal and constitutional practices. Any misguided trajectories will be buried in political dustbins for archival research by interested students of political history in Zimbabwe. — Tatenda Muketiwa, Ruwa.

Justice Makarau continues to give sterling performance, despite foolish foreign inspired criticism from opposition parties. ZEC should not be unfairly attacked now and again. — Farai Mpofu, Mutare.
