KAROI, 7 June 1967. — Strong appeals for resolution on the part of Rhodesians is facing and meeting economic sanctions were made by three members of the Government Front Bench at a Rhodesian Front meeting in Karoi tonight, attended by about 160 people.
Sharing the speakers’ platform were the Minister of Transport and Power and of Roads and Road Traffic, Brigadier Dunlop, the Deputy Minister of Information, Mr P K van der Byl, and the MP for the constituency and Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Mr L B Smith.
They urged that Rhodesians should not be lulled into complacency because sanctions did not appear to have the dire effects originally predicted.
Brigadier Dunlop said Rhodesia is not now anxiously seeking political recognition, but is instead more concerned in winning economic recognition from Europe and other parts of the world.
Brigadier Dunlop added that a report on the feasibility of a Karoi rail link will be ready in two weeks.
