Cde Chinx: Patriot to the end

- Farai Ngwerume, Norton.

EDITOR — Cde Chinx was a hero whose contribution to the country’s liberation is immeasurable.

He led conversations with his voice and lived his life doing what he loved the most.

With every song he sang, you would see his love for the country. He sang with conviction and love for his country.

Now that he has passed on, it is important that we continue honouring his legacy through maintaining the values he continuously preached.

His departure gives all Zimbabweans reason to revisit Chimurenga ethos and protect the country from imperialists and external pressures.

I also read that there is a process of naming streets in Chitungwiza, it would be prudent to immortalise the late singer by naming one after him.

Zimbabwe has been robbed of yet another hero and although he has left, we will still cherish him.

I hope one of his children decides to take up their father’s torch just like how Sulumani has run with the Chimbetu legacy.

There is need to re-market some of his music so that the younger generation connects with the power that was in his message and voice.

Rest in peace, Cde Chinx. A true son of the soil.
