Incentivise exports to boost forex

-

EDITOR – Zimbabwean exports ought to be increased especially considering the fact that most of the challenges we are facing are attributed to shortage of foreign currency. One of the ways to ensure that this is achieved is by providing solid motivation to producers in this country.

There are some areas where we thrive as a country and maximising our produce is a good way of ensuring sustainable flow of foreign currency. An employee who is well appreciated works happily and to full potential thereby increasing our country’s competitiveness on the global market.

There are some Zimbabwean products that are preferred globally and can only be produced in our country such as Mazoe juices. Increasing exports incentives will revive the energy of manufacturers and this will in turn benefit the whole country.

There won’t be cases of supply outstrippingdemand once our markets expand. Exports will not only strengthen our financial muscle but will also result in good relations with other nations. They will know who their suppliers are and will stay loyal to them.

It is in such small relationships that big ones emerge. There is need for us to not take these opportunities for granted. We are inter-dependent and globalisation has made everything easier.

Companies that produce goods for export are at a very low risk of shutting down. We have had many cases of companies that close shop because they depend entirely on the local market and this ought to be avoided. Ruvimbo Matasva Via email
