‘MPs’ expulsions were necessary’
ZANU-PF Midlands provincial chairperson Cde Daniel Mackenzie Ncube on Tuesday insisted that the dismissal of some politicians in the province was a necessary evil.
Makhosini Hlongwane (Mberengwa East), Chiratizo Mabuwa (Mberengwa West), Tapiwa Matangaidze (Shurugwi) and Anastancia Ndlovu (proportional representation), were among the 11 legislators recalled from the party last week.
Cde Ncube said the Midlands Province should now focus on mobilising support for Zanu-PF to win elections scheduled later this year.
“As a province, we can now go about our business and focus more on the elections without any disturbances. We have got to accept it and move on as we can now speak with one voice without any fear as we prepare for elections that are around the corner,” said Cde Ncube.
He said the matter had taken long to be settled hence bringing uncertainty in the party’s provincial structures.
Cde Ncube said people in constituencies had also lost confidence in the dismissed politicians.
“It had come to a point where it was affecting service delivery. When people you represent no longer trust you. Who then are you representing? so it had to come to this.
“Once somebody errs, the issue has to be looked into and we have to bring finality to it. If you leave it hanging, it creates problems in the party,” said Cde Ncube.
He said the fired members need to start all over again if they entertained hopes of readmission into the party.
“They have to start all over again and prove to the party that they have truly repented. We are a party that represents the people. As long as they admit that
they were wrong and show remorse, then their story can be listened to and proper procedures can be followed,” he said.
Cde Ncube said Zanu-PF must unite in its preparation for the elections.
“We now can unite and work together in preparation for the elections that are around the corner.
“As you know, we are under pressure as the Midlands province to lead by example.”
