Gutu RDC blacklists five land developers

- Runesu Gwidi Masvingo Correspondent

GUTU Rural District Council has resolved to blacklist five errant private land developers who are in the habit of fleecing residents through the implementation of clandestine schemes.

The names of the companies are yet to be established.

The local authority’s acting administrator, Mr Joseph Ndawi, said they will not take lightly to organisations duping people through controversial land development scheme.

He said the local authority was inundated with complaints from people who were being fleeced by the unscrupulous land development initiatives.

“We have been receiving a lot of complaints from residents claiming loss of monies to private developers who promise to service housing stands for them, but then act otherwise,” said Mr Ndawi.

“Some of them even vanished into thin air. We have met residents on many occasions over such issues until we resolved to stop dealing with the land developers.

“We understand that some of the culprits have fled to South Africa with funds after duping people.”

Mr Ndawi said the local authority was looking at engaging State institutions such as the National Social Security Authority and the Infrastructural Development Bank of Zimbabwe in rolling out infrastructure development programmes.

He said unscrupulous land developers had become a threat to the local authority’s strategic development goals.
