NBSZ in Easter Week campaign

NATIONAL Blood Service Zimbabwe (NBSZ) has embarked on an Easter Week campaign to boost blood stocks.

Speaking in an interview with The Herald yesterday, NBSZ public affairs manager Ms Esther Massundah said the campaign which began on March 26 ends today.

“National Blood Service Zimbabwe activated the Easter Week campaign and the purpose for this is to call our donors who have constantly been donating blood and those who would have donated blood a while ago due to work, or other commitments to help save lives. The campaign started on the 26th and is ending on the 29th of March.

“We want to bring hype and an element of excitement to our donors this Easter Week. We have made a good start in this campaign, so far we have a positive turnout and we are still calling on donors to come and donate blood this holiday,” said Ms Massundah.

She said demand for blood has also increased sharply due to a drop in prices from $80 to $50 per unit and most of the blood is donated by youths.

“We are calling on the youths to donate blood this holiday for our Pledge 25, a blood drive being conducted across in the country and ending in May to boost blood stocks.

“Seventy percent of the blood we get as NBSZ is from the youths and the rest from the elders. We are also calling on adult donors to donate blood,” she said.
