Govt must address the plight of workers

-

EDITOR — As celebrations to commemorate Workers’ Day went on, it seemed most workers did not seem to have much to celebrate.

I speak on behalf of all workers in Zimbabwe who seemingly are working under poor conditions that need improvement.

We have been working tirelessly without pressing for wage increments for several years and I think it shows our commitment to our country.

We also understand that the country is going through a difficult patch and we are here to endure the pain.

But at the same time some organisations are taking advantage of the committed workers who are sacrificing a lot for the good of the companies and the country.

Some workers are working long hours and others are going for months without pay. Out of desperation, they are holding on, waiting for a better day.

These are the issues that the Government should look at to make sure that working conditions improve and that workers get their salaries on time.

Every economy relies heavily on the workers. As tough as the situation may be, a bit of appreciation and motivation can a long way.

Concerned Worker.
