CHICKEN INN FOOD outlets under Simbisa Brands Limited together with All About Love Trust Zimbabwe (AALTZ) have donated 1000 sanitary pads to underprivileged girls at Nhlangano Secondary School in Lower Gweru.

Addressing the donation ceremony held at Nlangano Secondary school yesterday, Chicken Inn operations manager Mr Philip Kaiyo said they have embarked on a campaign titled #Padsdrivecampaign in a bid to help girls with pads and to encourage zero stigma towards menstrual health in rural communities.

He said their company was happy to be involved with the community and to make a positive impact through social responsibility therefore they decided to partner with All About Love Trust Zimbabwe (AALTZ) AALTZ in helping a girlchild through donating sanitary pads.

“Chicken inn finds pleasure in being involved with its community and one of our beliefs is to make a positive impact to the community, therefore we have decided to partner with AALTZ in helping a girl child through the campaign #Padsdrivecampaign where we are giving out pads,” he said.

Mr Kaiyo added that they decided to assist the peers in rural communities since they that have no access to pads and they are unprivileged.

He said personal hygiene was imperative for girls that reached puberty and it was incumbent upon those with access to assist them.

“We have started donating sanitary pads to unprivileged girls in schools and within the communities and Nhlangano secondary has already received its package,” said Mr Kaiyo.

“We have donated 1000 pads as a measure to help the girls who are failing to come to school during their menstruation cycle because they do not have sanitary pads.”

He said some other organisations like AALTZ together with Zimbabwe National Family Planning Council (ZNFPC) have also decided on educating their peers, particularly those that are underprivileged on hygiene, especially when they were menstruating.

“We will engage on a programme where we will select some organisations to partner with to educate the girls on their personal hygiene, especially during their menstruation period,’’ he said.
