Another rerun for Mhondoro-Ngezi
THE Zanu-PF national secretariat has ordered another primary election rerun for Mhondoro-Ngezi constituency in Mashonaland West province.
The rerun has been set for today. The directive was made in a circular signed by the party’s National Commissar, Lieutenant-General Engelbert Rugeje (Retired) on May 15 and addressed to the provincial chairman, Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi.
“The Zanu-PF National Election Commission (NEC) has recommended additional rerun for the National Assembly seat in Mhondoro-Ngezi constituency.
“The recommendation was made after a broader analysis of the previous primary elections in the affected constituency. In this regard the Commissariat Department has set May 21 2018 as the date for the rerun,” read the circular.
According to the circular there will be a cell verification exercise before the rerun.
“It should, however, be noted that the rerun will be preceded by a cell verification exercise that would be held on May 19 and 20, 2018.
“Teams that will conduct both cell verification exercise and the rerun will be deployed in your province on May 18, 2018.”
The provincial executive was also directed to ensure that necessary modalities are put in place to successfully complete the two programmes.
Zimbabwe Cricket board chairperson Cde Tavengwa Mukuhlani had won the election to represent the ruling party in the forthcoming harmonised election.
He is facing Cdes Lindiwe Chitombo, Thompson Nhidza, Taurai Mabika, Edward Chimedza and Nobert Kazembe in the primary election.
Another contestant, Cde Bright Matonga’s, name was missing on the ballot paper.
Mashonaland West had been ordered to hold seven primary election reruns in Norton, Chinhoyi, Makonde, Zvimba South, Zvimba North, Chegutu West and Chegutu East.
The Norton and Chinhoyi primary elections were dropped with Cde Christopher Mutswangwa and Cde Last Sauramba getting the nod to represent the party in the forthcoming elections.
