Unique campaign strategy for Chivi

- Walter Mswazie recently in CHIVI

ZANU-PF’S Chivi South National Assembly candidate, Cde Killer Zivhu, has launched a mobilisation strategy meant to ensure more votes for President Mnangagwa in the forthcoming harmonised elections.

The campaign, dubbed “One (1) for Five (5) for ED Mnangagwa 2018”, would result in thousands of people in Chivi district being mobilised to vote for President Mnangagwa and other party candidates.

Speaking during the launch of the votes mobilisation strategy in Chivi on Friday that was attended by thousands of people, Cde Zivhu said the strategy would entail one person being urged to mobilise five others to vote for Zanu-PF.

The five that would have been mobilised would also be encouraged to spread the campaign to their own five people, until the whole constituency is mobilised to vote for the ruling party.

He said the strategy was helpful in that voters would receive the message directly from those around them, a situation that would encourage them to take responsibility by voting for the ruling party.

“I have thought hard about this strategy which I called ‘One (1) for Five (5) ED Mnangagwa 2018’, which seeks to mobilise thousands of supporters in Masvingo province,” said Cde Zivhu.

“Under the new strategy, one person would look for five people around them and each of the five will also mobilise his or her five people. At the end of the day, Zanu-PF and President ED will resoundingly win the elections.

“It can be at family level, village level, ward level, let each one of us just target five people and explain the good about voting President Mnangagwa and Zanu-PF.

“Let each one of us have that obligation to mobilise only five people as part of this campaign. If each one of us manages to convince five people, then we know the number of votes for President Mnangagwa and Zanu-PF will be high.”

Cde Zivhu said he hoped the party’s Commissariat Department would look into such types of campaign strategies, in addition to the existing ones.

He said the strategy would complement the message that would be spread by President Mnangagwa during the party’s star rallies, as party members take it upon themselves to reach out to those who would have failed to attended the rallies.

Cde Zivhu said if there were 60 000 people in a constituency, the chances would be that if all the contacted members approach the next person with the message, then President Mnangagwa would have a clean sweep.

This, he said, would also benefit councillors, National Assembly members, senators and the party at large.

The launch of the campaign strategy was combined with a farewell party for retiring Alderman Tafirei Mhosva at the Chivi Rural District Council boardroom.

Cde Zivhu, who is the Chivi Rural District Council chairman, called on councillors to ensure that there was transparency in the distribution of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

Government has disbursed $50 000 to the country’s over 200 constituencies through Parliament, to develop their areas through constructing schools, clinics and dip tanks.

“We should make sure that CDF is not abused here in Chivi and councillors are expected to ensure there is accountability,” said Cde Zivhu.

He warned councillors against working with unscrupulous people in misusing the fund and lining their pockets with Government money at the expense of development.

Cde Zivhu said schools in every ward were supposed to benefit from the fund, with school heads confirming receipt of purchased materials.
