MASHONALAND Central Agricultural Show opened on Wednesday with new and returning exhibitors participating.

Bindura Nickel Corporation managing director Mr Batsirai Manhando will officially open the agricultural show tomorrow.

Mazowe Valley Agricultural Show Society chairman Mr Christopher Chingwaru said among the new exhibitors were ZINARA, CMED, Ministry of Industry and Commerce and Bindura Rural District Council.

Running under the theme: “Enhancing farming production through value addition,” the show will end on Monday.

“Some companies stopped exhibiting due to economic hardships and now things are looking up, there is general optimism,” said Mr Chingwaru.

“So far, we have 38 companies that have confirmed their participation and we expect to surpass 50. Last year we had 51 companies. Most of our exhibitors come two days after opening and we are optimistic of receiving more numbers. We have about 200 small-scale exhibitors.

“This show is important to both corporates and farmers. We have noticed that farmers get a lot of information and improve their farming methods. In showcasing their products and services, companies boost their sales and know what their customers want.”

Farm and City will hold a draw for a tractor and motor cycles for farmers on Saturday and sungura ace, Alick Macheso is expected to provide entertainment on the day.

By yesterday, some companies were still constructing their stands and making final touch-ups.
