Zaka Central MP pledges development
NEWLY-ELECTED ZANU-PF Zaka Central legislator Cde Davison Svuure has pledged to initiate several income-generating projects to uplift the standards of living of people in his constituency.
Addresing hundreds of supporters that gathered at Gwangwava Business Centre to celebrate his victory on Wednesday, Cde Svuure said he wanted to transform the face of Zaka Central over the next five years.
“Most rural communities often find themselves struggling to make ends meet or even to put food on their tables in the event of drought because they do not have alternative means of getting income,” he said.
“I am very happy today that the people of Zaka Central voted for me and in return I will roll out developmental projects like construction of clinics, schools and community centres.”
Cde Svuure pledged to set up a revolving fund to finance various income-generating projects for the benefit of the rural folk in his area.
He said improvement of the health delivery system was also one of his major priorities. Cde Svuure said he will make sure idle water bodies in and around his constituency were exploited in line with the dictates of Government’s Command Agriculture and Fisheries programmes.
“We are going to construct small dams to harvest water and start fishing projects, which will benefit our unemployed youths in this drought-prone district,” he said.
When he was campaigning, Cde Svuure facilitated the drilling of a borehole in the Fuve area and connected piped water for Munjanja villagers in Zaka Central.
“After realising that some people in this constituency were having water challenges, I took it upon myself to make sure that they have access to clean water for their day to day use like washing, watering plants and other things that is why I connected piped water for the Munjanja community,” he said. Cde Svuure pledged to support sport development across Zaka Central through donation of football kits to help in talent identification and helping people to live healthy lives.
He bagged Zaka Central constituency in the Monday polls after garnering 11 784 votes, beating three other contestants including Mr Lovemore Chinoputsa of MDC-Alliance who came second with 6 940 votes.
