Mash Central adopts 506 projects
MASHONALAND Central Province has adopted 506 projects with a budget of $368 million for its eight districts.
Speaking during a Provincial Development Committee meeting in Bindura on Tuesday, Minister of State for Mashonaland Central Provincial Affairs Advocate Martin Dinha said devolution of power was an exciting development which the province must gear up for.
“President Emmerson Mnangagwa has challenged us to prepare the framework on what constitutes our provincial economy and our contribution to the Gross Domestic Product in terms of agriculture tourism, education, housing development and service delivery,” said Adv Dinha.
“The Provincial Development Committee is the technical arm of Government and your role will be more pronounced as we go into the second republic. In that republic, key highlights have been made of what is going to pertain,” he said.
He said it was critical that people be aware of the political intentions that will be translated into action in the form of devolution of power from the centre to various provinces. “Devolution is implementing the unimplemented part of the Constitution that we now have.
“Practically, it means provinces will be running themselves as a tier of Government with more powers to authorities and heads,” he said.
