ZPC, Nichrut share spoils
ZPC Kariba . . . . . . . . . . . . . (1)1 Nichrut . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (1)1 ZPC KARIBA had another disappointing show yesterday when they settled for a draw against Nichrut in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Nyamhunga yesterday.
Moses Demera thrust the hosts into a sixth minute lead, nodding home from a corner by Munyaradzi Kunyarimwe.
But their joy was short-lived when Nichrut replied through Carlos Rusere four minutes later from a set piece just outside the box.
Neither team was able to build on their promising starts.
ZPC Kariba coming from a defeat at the hands of Dynamos over the weekend were hoping to bounce back from the loss and collect maximum points, but their opponents had other ideas.
The electricity men’s coach Godfrey Tamirepi was disappointed with the result and said his team was still to recover after their game against Dynamos on Sunday.
However, they will have to quickly regroup for their next assignment against Chicken Inn on Saturday.
While Tamirepi was left a disappointed man after dropping two points yesterday, his counterpart John Nyikadzino was content with a point picked away from home following a goalless draw at home against Highlanders over the weekend.
“We are very happy to gain a point away from home and I’m happy with the performance of our newly acquired experienced players we signed during the window period.
“I think this is a good way forward from the relegation zone,” said Nyikadzino.
Nichrut, 15th on the log table, still have some work to do if they are to find their way up the ladder.
