Response to “Comment: As austerity ends, it’s time for real graft”

Very true. This also involves importing manufacturing equipment from more developed countries such as China, Japan and Russia. This is a better way as we do not have to import manufactured products year-after-year. The best thing that can be done to promote farmers and agriculture is providing them with outlets and markets for their produce. We should work in all sectors, from agro-industry to chemicals manufacturing enterprises and all type of industries using farming and mining products as inputs. Great development projects in the country like new hydro plants, should also be managed by Zimbabwean engineering companies. — Mnaizi.

Response to “Irrigation will transform the Lowveld: President”

With climate and erratic rains being received, development of irrigation infrastructure is the only way to turn the area into a green belt and boost food security and employment creation. The maize crop planted this winter is the first step towards promoting production of maize. Water is the most important factor for a historic turnaround of the Lowveld into an agricultural hub of repute. The support of this project by the President and Masvingo Province at large will see its success. — Elijah Chihota.

Response to “Production fever grips Zim youths”

It is quite amazing to note that our youths have the zeal to develop the country. We have seen such zeal, especially in agriculture. Youths are involved in all types of farming and this will ensure that we never go hungry.

With the current economic situation, we have to make sure that we work by all means necessary so that we find something to survive on. As we approach the rainy season, youths have to work extra hard on the farms to reduce the amount of goods and services the country imports. — Chofamba.

Response to “Inputs scheme abusers will be punished” We have seen a lot of people who sell fertilisers and seeds from the Presidential Inputs Scheme. Such behaviour is not right at all and the people should be punished. They are only pulling us back, when the President thinks he has provided enough for many families in the rural areas.

At the end of the day, those are the same people who are the first to go hungry after they have sold what they would have been given for free. The price which the inputs are sold at is very little, almost half that we find in shops. We are only cheating ourselves, and this will not help us at all. Punishment is the only way we can get rid of these people. — Muzezuru.

Response to “Patients plead

for end to impasse”

The Government has played its part in bringing doctors back to work. However, I do not see much effort being put in by doctors. Please doctors, it is your duty to take care of those in hospitals. Ethics come first, and everything follow. — Carol.
