ACTOR Lazarus Boora, popularly known as Gringo, will soon make a comeback after going under the knife at a hospital in Chitungwiza last month.

His appendix raptured and he was rushed to the hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

Indications are that the actor will be returning to take up his role in “Village Secrets”, which is being screened by ZBCTV.

Gringo plays Gibbo in “Village Secrets”.

In an interview with The Herald Arts, Gringo expressed excitement about going back on set.

“I have recovered and I will be returning to work next week,” he said.

Gringo reflected on his stay in hospital and the days he was under the weather saying he had a tough experience.

“I still feel some pain in my stomach especially in cloudy weather. I believe it was through God’s grace that I had a speedy recovery.

“The good thing is that I can now eat solid foods, which is a great sign that I have recovered,” he said.

Gringo thanked people who raised funds for his medical bills.

“I would not have done it on my own. Zimbabweans came through to help me and I will forever be grateful to them,” he said.

The award-winning actor hogged the limelight around 1997 when he featured in Enock Chihombori’s popular drama series “Gringo”.

The success of the series led to similar projects “Gringo Ndiani”, “Gringo Mari Iripi” and subsequently a movie “Gringo the Troublemaker”.

He made cameo appearances in a local movie called “Yellow Card” and also featured in a number of adverts.
