It’s tea time for the elderly
IN support of First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa’s efforts to cater for the health and nutritional requirements of vulnerable communities, diversified agricultural company, Ariston Holdings, has donated over a tonne of tea to the Angel of Hope Foundation for onward distribution to the elderly and vulnerable groups.
Amai Mnangagwa has been mobilising resources for the elderly and other marginalised groups that are struggling to put food on the table. Zimbabwe has been under lockdown since March 30.
Head of human resources at Ariston, Mr Brian Kagondo said the firm’s donation was in support of extensive programmes initiated by the First Lady and her foundation for the benefit of vulnerable communities and the nation at large.
He said the First Lady’s efforts were positively impacting and touching the lives of the people of Zimbabwe.
“Winter is upon us and what motivated us is the work that Angel of Hope Foundation is doing in terms of reaching out to the marginalised groups right across the country, including the very remote areas.
“We said let’s also join hands as the private sector in terms of partnering Angel of Hope Foundation and also supporting the work that the First Lady is doing. We will continue to work with organisations like Angel of Hope Foundation to assist the marginalised,” he said.
In an acceptance speech read on her behalf by Angel of Hope Foundation chairperson Mrs Molly Dingane, the First Lady expressed gratitude to the company for its benevolence.
She said the kind gesture would go a long way in helping the elderly countrywide.
“Tea as we all know, is an important part of a family’s food basket and I am glad that we are now able to add this product to our hampers for the elderly and the underprivileged.
“I have the pleasure of receiving one tonne of tea to assist Angel of Hope Foundation activities this winter. Tea has a lot of benefits which include regulating body temperature. It has anti-oxidants and also helps to fight free radicals in our bodies which can cause cancerous diseases.
“This gift is well appreciated and I am thankful for your kind gesture in joining hands with us to touch lives,” she said.
