Zimpapers’ touch of class

- Ray Bande

ZIMBABWE’S largest integrated media organisation, Zimpapers, yesterday gave this year’s International Day for Universal Access to Information a touch of class with an array of its products on display during commemorations held in Chimanimani.

Diamond FM, which is based in Mutare and covers the province, provided live coverage of the event as well as entertaining guests while newspaper titles under the stable including The Herald, The Manica Post , Chronicle, Umthunywa and The Sunday Mail were distributed for free.

In an interview, Zimpapers public relations manager Mrs Pauline Matanda said the organisation has continued to support Government initiatives through coverage.

“We celebrate the International Day for Universal Access to Information as the largest integrated media house in the country,” she said.

“Information is power and as Zimpapers, we have continued to support Government efforts through communicating its development agenda through our newspapers, radio stations, television station (ZTN) and all Zimpapers digital platforms.

“As Zimpapers, we continue to innovate around information dissemination and recently we have launched a new product, the Zimpapers App, which can be accessed on our mobile phones and can be accessed through Google Play and App Store, through which people can access all our 10 newspapers, four radio stations and the television station.”

Mrs Matanda said Zimpapers will continue to play its part in the Cyclone Idai recovery efforts, through various ways including information dissemination.

During the Cyclone Idai period, The Manica Post and Diamond FM were at the forefront of giving updates on the goings-on in Chimanimani.

“Chimanimani has become our second home since Cyclone Idai, our chairman Mr Tommy Sithole, together with our CEO Mr Pikirayi Deketeke, have been here on different occasions making donations to the Chimanimani community.

“Zimpapers has also built a classroom block at Chikukwa Primary School, which has since been handed over by Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Monica Mutsvangwa,” she added.
