Bullish Gamecocks expect to go all the way

CHICKEN Inn believe they will go the distance when the Chibuku Super Cup resumes tomorrow, after months of inactivity, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Gamecocks yesterday boosted their team morale when they unveiled new kit from their international supplier, Kelme Sportswear.

They unveiled branded apparel, which comprises playing kit, training kit, formal wear, tracksuits, travel bags, satchels, golf T-shirts and FIFA-approved Kelme soccer balls.

The Group 2 leaders are expected to resume their campaign in a lunchtime kickoff against Bulawayo City, at Barbourfields.

Club secretary-general, Tavengwa Hara, believes the kit unveiling ceremony was a big confidence booster ahead of the resumption of the Chibuku tournament.

“We had a massive kit unveiling ceremony and we believe this augurs well with our growing brand as one of the most professional sides, in Zimbabwe.

“We believe this will go a long way in motivating our players and staff to fight hard on the field of play.

“We have also unveiled our young players who have been promoted into the senior team,” said Hara.

Chicken Inn lead Group 2 with seven points.

They have the same number of points with Highlanders, who are also smiling, after they recently received a major boost following the unveiling of a US$900 000-per-year deal, with Sakunda Holdings.

“There has been a massive influx of sponsorship in domestic football of late, but it is also important to note that there are no small teams, especially here in Bulawayo,’’ said Hara.

“All the competitive matches that are being played here these days are making good derbies.

“You cannot really underrate any team. “If you have been following the Chibuku Super Cup games, I think you will agree this is probably the toughest group.

“So, we are bracing for a tough resumption against Bulawayo City.”

Hara said the Gamecocks were excited by the confidence they have been getting from the corporate world.

Chicken Inn have multiple partners, who include NicozDiamond, Black Shark and Bonvie, whose logos will share the space on the team kit.

NicozDiamond, who are in formal wear partnership with the club, will this season occupy the front part.

The club’s main sponsors, Simbisa Brands, through their Chicken Inn brand, have moved to the back of the shorts.

The Chibuku Super Cup is expected to return, after an enforced break of almost three months, due to Covid-19.

The tournament returns at a time Highlanders and Dynamos are walking with a spring in their steps, after they received a huge boost, with the coming on board of Sakunda Holdings, as their principal sponsors.

The company poured in a cash injection of US$5.3, million for the next three years.

Dynamos lead Group One in Harare, and will resume their campaign against unpredictable Yadah Stars, at the National Sports Stadium tomorrow.

DeMbare were unbeaten in their opening six games.

They have 14 points, after winning four of their matches and drawing two.

The Glamour Boys are six points clear of second-placed Yadah.
