Activity picks up at Agric Show
ACTIVITY at the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show has picked with most exhibitors expecting more visitors to their stands today when the show will be open to the public with light entertainment and fireworks in the evening.
Zimbabwe Agricultural Society chief executive Dr Andrew Matibiri said by afternoon yesterday the number of exhibitors had increased to 400.
“It is good the public is also now coming to the show. We expect more people to visit the show ground. Visitors will be treated to light entertainment followed by fireworks in the evening,” he said.
Few people visited the Exhibitor Park for the show during the first days but the number has increased by yesterday. Exhibitors said there were some enquiries at their stands and the numbers had continued to increase as the show progressed.
Some of the popular stands included the Central Registry stand where people had the opportunity to get new identity documents. There was a crowd at the stand as people tried to enquire on how they could get the identity cards while others wanted to replace.
Some of the people said this was good initiative as they had an opportunity to acquire identity documents.
Mr Tomson Mushava of Harare said he had been advised by a friend to visit the
Exhibition Park to get an ID.
“I lost mine and I need to replace it. I am sure I will be served today. The service is pleasing,” he said
The Zimbabwe National Road Authority was also a centre of attraction as motorists took advantage of the show to regularise their vehicles without payment of penalties.
The ZANU PF stand was also popular with people who were renewing their membership cards and others who were registering.
At PSMAS, visitors were impressed by the wellness programme which they said had equipped good lifestyle practices thereby preventing some ailments.
Women in Agriculture stand was also outstanding people wanted to know more about their orange sweet potatoes variety which was being processed into crisps.
Some farmers said they were happy with the number of people who visited the agri-product stand.
Mrs Mavis Wenyika of Chiredzi who was exhibiting her produce said the show was fruitful as she had learnt a lot from sharing prices with others farmers and interacting with experts.
“We also had the opportunity to meet with seed manufactures, agriculture machinery manufacturers and other business people and we enquired about a number of issues. This will help us in making informed decisions,” she said.
