Ndiraya on Simba Bhora radar

- Tadious Manyepo

NEWLY-PROMOTED Premiership football side Simba Bhora haven’t officially approached Dynamos coach Tonderai Ndiraya with a view of bringing him to Shamva, but the gaffer is one of those being considered for the job.

Simba Bhora secured promotion into the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League after winning the highly-competitive Ruyamuro Service Stations Northern Region Division One Soccer League two months ago.

Their coach Arthur “Tuts’’ Tutani, who has made a name for himself after helping three lower division teams to the top-flight, doesn’t have the requisite CAF A Licence to coach in the PSL.

However, the club can apply for a waiver for the veteran gaffer, who is a holder of a CAF B coaching badge, to be allowed to direct operations in the top-tier in the same vein the likes of Black Rhinos mentor Stanford “Stix” Mutizwa and Chicken Inn’s Joey “Mafero” Antipas are operating.

Ndiraya’s future at Dynamos looks uncertain after failing to lead the Glamour Boys to glory this season. His contract with DeMbare runs out at the end of this year.

The former midfielder has divided the club’s executive as some want him out with others maintaining he has done well given it’s his first full season at the Glamour Boys.

With his future solely dependent on executive veto, Ndiraya has been linked with several clubs with Simba Bhora being the front- runners. When contacted by The Herald yesterday, Simba Bhora secretary-general, Taurai Jani, said his club have not started serious business given they are not yet part of the PSL.

“We haven’t received a confirmation from the PSL as yet and we haven’t started serious business. But, as a club with focus, we are already looking into the future. What I can tell you is that we haven’t approached Ndiraya (Tonderai) as yet,” said Jani.

“We have coach Tutani (Arthur) who has been in charge of our campaign into the top-flight.

“The general consensus is that he should get a chance to prove himself in the league. The general consensus is that he is a good coach and can carry the team forward given he knows the philosophy and the vision.

“But, we cannot as yet apply for a waiver given that we have not been invited into the PSL yet. He holds a CAF B License and we will have to apply for him to get a waiver to coach with that badge.

“While we wait for the invite which will allow us to apply for a waiver, obviously, we will also be looking at who else can come in the event that we fail to get the waiver.

“So basically, we can’t rule out anything but certainly our first priority will be to give a chance to the technical team which carried us over the line to the PSL.”
