SMALL scale miners, under the banner Miners Forum for Economic Development, have joined hands with other progressive organisations in support of President Mnangagwa’s economic development policies.

The Miners Forum for Economic Development joins a growing list of organisations that have been impressed by progressive policies of the Second Republic which include Teachers for Economic Development, Young Women for Economic Development, Men BelievED, and Vapositori for ED among many others.

Speaking at the launch of the Miners Forum for Economic Development in Harare yesterday, Ms Constance Muchoni, who is the chairperson of the organisation, said small scale miners should take advantage of the policies availed by the Second Republic to work harmoniously with the relevant Ministries to formalise their operations.

She said their mandate is to support the Government’s economic thrust, which is aimed at leaving no-one and no place behind.

“As miners for Economic Development we are here to facilitate the mobilisation of youths and women within the mining sector so that they contribute immensely to the growth of the sector.

“We are mobilising youths and women across the country’s eight mining provinces in Zimbabwe to venture into the mining sector,” said Ms Muchoni. The Second Republic has set a target to achieve a US$ 12 billion mining economy by 2023 buoyed by minerals such as gold, platinum, diamond, chrome, lithium and coal, among others.

“As small scale miners, we are also contributing to the US$ 12 billion economy by 2023. As Miners for Economic Development, we are saying we are not leaving anyone behind. Let me take this opportunity to thank the Second Republic and ZANU PF for opening avenues for Zimbabweans who want to venture into the mining sector as we move towards empowering our people, the youth, women, and other vulnerable groups,” she said.
