Bloodbath at Dynamos: Ndiraya, Mupfurutsa fired
DYNAMOS coach Tonderai Ndiraya has been made to pay for the Glamour Boys’ failures this season with the club revealing last night his contract will not be renewed.
DeMbare flattered to deceive in a season they spent close to US$140 000 in new transfers alone.
They finished the season on third place despite starting the term brightly.
But they failed to sustain the push leaving eventual champions FC Platinum to have it their own way after winning the league with three games to spare.
So bad has been the Harare giants they failed to attract bumper crowds which they are normally used to as the team player a bad brand of football.
Ndiraya was even suspended, though without any justification, in May and after his reinstatement, things were never the same again.
There have been murmurs of discontent with sections of Dynamos followers calling for his ouster.
And the Glamour Boys yesterday put to bed speculation he would be fired after they made it clear his contract which expires at the end of this year will not be reviewed.
Executive chairman Isaiah Mupfurutsa has also been fired.
Ndiraya had told reporters on Sunday following a 1-1 Derby draw against CAPS United at the National Sports Stadium that he would leave everything in DeMbare’s hands.
“My contract with Dynamos expires on 31 December and it’s up to my employers to extend the contract or otherwise.
“I leave everything in the employers hands,” said Ndiraya.
And yesterday, through their spokesperson Tinashe Farawo, Dynamos made it clear they wouldn’t be retaining the former midfielder in the fold.
“Dynamos Football Club announces that head coach Tonderai Ndiraya’s contract with the club will not be renewed after its expiry on the 31st of December 2022.
“It is with regret that we have reached this difficult decision but Ndiraya will always be remembered for his contribution to Dynamos both as a player and a coach,” read the letter.
“However, this development does not dwarf the work Ndiraya has done in the last few years to rebuild Dynamos and position it for long term success.
Ndiraya remains a Dynamos son whose loyalty to the club has never been doubted.
“We wish Ndiraya all the best in his future endeavours”.
Mupfurutsa, who The Herald understands has been backing Ndiraya has also been shown the exit door.
However, Farawo refused to confirm the development.
“What I can confirm is that Ndiraya’s contract will not be renewed and nothing else. If there are any other developments, we will let you know formally just like what we have done with Ndiraya,” he said.
