THE ZIFA Harare Province Open Gold Cup Trophy final between Dynamos Academy and BN Academy will be finally held at Belgravia Sports Club this Saturday.

Dynamos and BN Academy will battle it out in the trophy final dubbed Champions of Champions as it pits teams that won the knock-out tournament from Harare Province Division Two A and B Leagues.

The Open Gold Cup received a timely boost with Vincent Chiwonza, through his Open Gold Company which is into civil construction and coach building, sponsored the final to the tune of US$4 000.

Chiwonza came on board after the final had been shelved and said he is happy to have partnered with the ZIFA Harare Province League.

“I am happy with the partnership we have entered into with the ZIFA Harare Province and I know it is going to go a long way in promoting the sport. As an organisation, we have already partnered with the Southern Region also and we have sponsored them and now we have come to ZIFA Harare Province.

“The sponsorship is not a one-off thing as we are looking beyond the 2022 season. We will continue to support them as long as they represent our brand well.

“It is our hope that we will be well represented by the League and like every other brand, we expect to have professionalism in the sport. Our aim is to see junior football grow and it is us who can help drive the initiative so as Open Gold we decided to give back as part of our social corporate responsibility,” said Kawonza.

ZIFA Harare Province Division Two League chairman, Robert Tembo, said they are happy to have one of their own coming to sponsor the Cup which will have a trophy and some prize money.

“We are happy as a league getting sponsorship is hard to come by these days but we are grateful to our partner Open Gold. The stakes will see the winners pocketing US$2 000 while runners-up will get US$1 000.

“The sponsorship will be reserved and we urge the clubs to represent us well so that we attract more sponsors to come and support us,” said Tembo.

Dynamos representative, Francis Madzinga, said they are happy with the support and are looking forward to the final.

“We are ready as Dynamos and this is the only way we can motivate our academy players by winning such trophies. The final comes with it a good reward and that will push us to make sure that we give our best in the final,’’ said Madzinga.

Bhekimpilo Nyoni, the BN Academy director, said they are happy that the final is finally on and they are ready for the challenge.
