DeMbare beef up executive
HARARE giants Dynamos have appointed businessman Musa Gwasira as vice-chairman of the club’s executive committee.
Gwasira will deputise Moses Shumba, who was elevated to the position of chairman last week following the sacking of Isaiah Mupfurutsa.
Club spokesperson Tinashe Farawo confirmed the latest appointment.
“Dynamos Football Club wishes to advise its stakeholders that it has appointed Mr Musa Gwasira as the club vice-chairman. The appointment is with immediate effect,” said Farawo.
Gwasira, is a former director and financier of the now-defunct Lengthens, which played in the Premier Soccer League from 2006 up to the end of 2011.
He once sat on the inaugural Premier Soccer League board of governors, where he was the board member in charge of fixtures. His experience in administration is expected to help the Harare giants turn around their fortunes.
Gwasira and his friends formed Lengthens, which started as a social club and took it to the Area Zone before buying a Division Two franchise, in 2002. The team was promoted into Division One in 2004 and played there for two years before gaining promotion into the top-flight in 2006.
