Trio found with $ 6m cocaine

-

THREE suspects, including a foreigner, have been arrested at lodge in Avondale, Harare, after police recovered 105 grammes of cocaine worth about $6 million.

Honest Shumba (33), Allen Shumba (37) and foreigner Stanley Eze (45), were arrested following a tip-off. They are still assisting police with investigations.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the three were arrested on Monday by detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics.

“The suspects were found in possession of 105 grammes of cocaine with a street valued of $5 880 000,” he said.

Asst Comm Nyathi thanked the public for supplying police with useful information that led to the arrest of the suspects.

He warned drug dealers that they will be arrested and the law will take its course without fear or favour.

In February, a yet to be identified Zimbabwean woman left 695g of cocaine worth over $6,5 million at that time at a city lodge for a Indian visitor under the instruction that he should carry her “parcel” back to India.

It is believed that the woman, suspected to be a drug trafficker, wanted the unsuspecting foreigner to transport the cocaine to India on her behalf.

Investigations revealed that the man discovered that the parcel contained cocaine and left the bag at the lodge before departing.

Officials at the lodge then made a report to the police.
