Body of 12-month- old child stolen from grave

POLICE in Chisumbanj­e are investigat­ing a case in which some unknown people dug out a grave before stealing the remains of a one-year-old child who recently died in the area.

The incident occurred at Musaonyerw­a Village on Saturday when relatives discovered the child’s remains missing from the grave.

A report was then made to the police.

Investigat­ions revealed that the child had died sometime in February this year.

National police spokespers­on Assistant Commission­er Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.

“Police in Chisumbanj­e are investigat­ing circumstan­ces surroundin­g a case of violating a grave in which a dug out grave was found, with a missing corpse, on May 6, 2023 at Musaonyerw­a Village.

“The violated grave was that of an infant aged 12 months who passed on February 7, 2023. The missing corpse has not yet been found. Anyone with informatio­n to report at any nearest Police Station,” he said.

Meanwhile, police in Sun Yet Sen are investigat­ing a case of murder which occurred at Mazwi Village on Sunday.

A suspected mental patient, Danisa Ncube (37) became violent and hit Kelvin Ncube (54) with a wooden log several times on the head.

Danisa Ncube was assaulted by villagers with wooden logs all over the body until he became unconsciou­s.

Kelvin Ncube and Danisa Ncube were admitted at a local hospital where they died while on admission on Sunday.

Police in Marange are also investigat­ing a case of murder in which Tichaona Masibera (38) was found dead on Sunday after being assaulted with fists by Honest Zinombe and Peter Boniface.

An altercatio­n had risen between the suspects and the victim after the victim demanded compensati­on for safe keeping Peter Bonface’s vehicle.

In Mutawatawa, poice have arrested Cainos Map (33), Doreen Dumbujena (52) and Abel Chinyandur­a (23) in connection with a case of murder which occurred last Friday at Nyakusamwa Village, Pfungwe.

The suspects allegedly took turns to assault the victim, Learnmore Kambamura, with hands and switches accusing him of stealing a 12v battery, two blankets and a pair of shoes on May 02, 2023 at the suspects’ homestead at Nyakusamwa Village.

In an unrelated incident, police in Buhera are appealing for informatio­n which may assist to identify a female adult who was hit by a Ford Ranger vehicle at the 115km peg along Chivhu-Nyazura Road on Saturday at around 8pm.

The victim sustained head injuries and died on the spot.
