George targets inaugural Midlands Fitness Champs

SEASONED bodybuilde­r Beloved George is looking forward to leaving a mark at the inaugural World Fitness Federation Zimbabwe ( Midlands Championsh­ip set for Queens Sports Club this Saturday.

George, a veteran athlete who has seen it all in Men’s Fitness Physique, will be part of a strong cast that will take part in the inaugural tournament that was launched last month.

The Rhodesvill­e based hulk said he was ready for the challenge.

“I managed to win several events in my category but that will not make me relax as I was working hard as well as dieting.

“I am working on making my Beloved brand grow and make an impact on the local scene. I know the contest will be difficult but, after I began to take part in the Men’s Physique, I am improving a lot.

“The fact that I managed to defend several titles during the build-up, especially when I got the better of Mr Zimbabwe men’s fitness Paul Bako, who is a good athlete. We had a huge turnout but I managed to place fourth in my first attempt as a men’s physique athlete.”

The WFFZ secretary general Alec Jaure said they are happy with the sponsors who came on board and promised value for their money.

“I think we are ready to host one of our major events of the year. Athletes are showing a lot of interest. This being the first edition, we decided to hold it in Kwekwe so as to spread the sport to different provinces.

“The WFFZ contest is a national event and we all know most of the events are held in Harare and Bulawayo. We opted for a change as we are going to have the nationals in Harare before the end of the year.

“We are excited that we managed to get support from corporates and individual­s like Gold Metal Investment­s, Musabvunda, Kuvimu Aggregates, Muscle Rage, Supplement­s Factory

“Transform Nutrition by Cathy, JL Fitness, Muscle laps and Eddy “Gearbox” Mutero, among several others who are still coming on board,” said Jaure.
