THE 2018 harmonised elections are around the corner. People are being encouraged to participate in political activities with utmost care and clear benevolence on the lives of fellow family members, relatives and the society we are fixed in. — Terrence Mwedzi

The story of the Indian lady who had come to seek spiritual guidance from traditional healer in Nyanga has sent tongues wagging among readers. I am amazed to read the story of Nedia in the press. However, the story has received mixed feelings from a cross section of the society. The senior reporter, Nyore Madzianike is doing a sterling job in the eastern border city and should be applauded. — Avid Reader, Mutare.

What did ZIFA get from the Asiagate scandal – a debt amounting to $600 000. But we said that the circus to sacrifice the players and officials’ carriers was calculated to dribble the football community, covering their dirty tracks, seen as cleansing the game while anticipating a windfall from the Government and FIFA. ZIFA should just clear its debts. Its image and brand are smoked out as for years ZIFA has been run by people who leave its financial accounts in the red. When we change faces expecting better service, the same political figures take the posts to do the same. — Richard Mahuhushe Chauke

ZCTU thinks by calling for strikes, it is favourably bidding for its political offshoot before the 2018 harmonised elections. We remember so well how in the past this was played out – strike – get the pay increases. The prices shoot up and Government was at war with the public. There is no law in the world that says workers should be paid above the poverty datum line. The state of the economy determines everything. — RMC

A young woman reported to the Police that she was raped by a prophet. Later she withdrew the case, claiming she was getting threats. She fled to South Africa like a fugitive. Later she made a comic stunt to justice arguing she was never raped. She is not arrested for making a false report. Those alleged to have threatened her are not arrested. How much was this girl paid to withdraw the charges? We have the law violated in this case. — Concerned Citizen, Mutare

Mapfumo is not God to say,”I won’t die in a foreign land”. It leaves readers with the impression that he is in control of his life. That shows traits of living an artificial borrowed life! — Christian Faith

Motorists must carry those two red triangular reflectors to ensure when they experience a breakdown they will be able to warn other road users of the danger of a stationary vehicle which may be misconstrued as moving and then drivers follow behind it. The resultant effects are too ghastly to contemplate as they are devastatingly shattering. — Crispen Tendai Masenhu

MDC was formed in 1999.The founding fathers are known. So why be bothered by opportunists who want to hang on a moving train? Where were they? Let them drop off. — Analyst

Sunday Chidzambwa must not mourn about creative mid-fielders. It’s a foregone conclusion that his approach and style of play is cautiously defensive since he was a defender. He is protecting his legacy. Can anyone tell me a game in which goals rained? The folly of playing defensive football is that your opponents will work around and tire you, and you are bound to succumb or yield to pressure. On the contrary, playing attacking football from the first whistle will unnerve your opponents and create early goals to cushion last grasp anxieties at the close of game. So, the technical team must change formation and formula if we are to win matches. Whoever is reluctant to change must shoulder blame when the team loses, like what happened, rather than pass the buck to players. —Football Analyst

Vendors who had been removed from the streets are now back again. The area between Dangamvura rank and Bata is now congested again. Council should be firm when enforcing its by-laws. Vending in the CBD should be at designated places. This free-for-all situation makes our town dirty and crowded. Vending should only be done at designated points. — Tawanda Mhlanga

***** Mutareans proved that they are one and many thanks to the thousands who thronged Sakubva Stadium for the independence celebrations. No coercion, people filled the stadium at their own will. For the first time people were outside following the programme. Thank you for honouring our independence in such a spectacular way. The Presidential speech was inspiring. — Tawanda Mhlanga Dangamvura

Denever Mukamba has proved that rehabilitation is possible. After having been a bad boy for a long time at Dembare , Caps United president Farai Jere took and rehabilitated him, and now he is back to glory. Thanks to Mr Jere for giving him other chance. — Soccer Pundit Dangamvura

Middle Save Farmers should not keep on singing the same songs every season. They should plant the winter wheat in time and harvest while the quelea birds are still brooding. This falls within sustainable agriculture that does not harm the ecosystem by spraying these quelea birds. — Environmentalist
