It’s an early Armageddon

-

SO EVEN as Dynamos appear to be huffing and puffing, hopelessly hoping against the hope of jumpstarting their current campaign, the world has not stopped.

Even as defending champions FC Platinum have fallen to their first defeat of the season, life in the Premiership still goes on.

That DeMbare continue to wallow low in the league and FC Platinum have bitten the dust, two teams appear to be gloating at it all; which pair plunge into battle this weekend.

Ngezi Platinum Stars and Highlanders, on a collision course, are relishing the permutations the occasion of their clash tomorrow will spell for the title tilt. Not an absolute decider, the match has all the intrinsic makings to set pulses racing.

The two teams with the most points; the only without defeat; in imperious form; among the most potent attack and thrifty defence; and boasting a healthy goal difference — this is one contest that can easily sent slaves of the game slavering.

With not much to separate them at the top, only two points stand between Ngezi Platinum Stars and Highlanders — the former on top and the latter second-placed on the log standings. Bosso are bossing their way and getting into the frame; while Madamburo have picked up from where they left off last season and are firmly in the picture in this championship chase.

Where Highlanders have been stunning revival since the return and appointment of gaffer Madinda Ndlovu, Ngezi Platinum Stars are showing steady progress and continuity under Tonderai Ndiraya.

Already, both have put down brutal markers of their championship pursuit with their whirlwind start to the season.

A win for one team in this enticing encounter will condemn the other to their first defeat of the campaign. One is seeking to close the gap, while the other is out to widen it.

Painting their Babourfields home black and white — the colours of their strip — Bosso fans presently are; having reignited the amorous romance with the team again and their roaring road shows — back on following renewed belief at the club — invade Baobab tomorrow.

Then add to this intrigue that every fixture between these two, since the Mhondoro miners’ promotion into the Premiership in 2016, has produced goals. Over two seasons in four matches, a total of a dozen goals have been scored between them. Bosso have had the upper hand, however, three of the encounters having gone their way (1-0; 2-1; 4-1).

This is a game the football gods have made for us, though it looks like an Armageddon, and let us rejoice in it. But which way will it go?

If it is about football that you care let’s share the cheer because we are made for the game, mad about the game!
