- Liberty Dube Post Correspondent

SCOUTS in Manicaland were today (Friday) expected to depart for Malawi for the scouts’ zonal conference which will be held in Lilongwe till May 4.

The scouts’ national offices in Africa are placed into three zones —namely southern, northern and Arabic. The conference provides a platform for countries in the respective jurisdiction to exchange notes, report on progress made in scouting in their countries especially in line with set objectives.

Zimbabwe, which falls under the southern zone, hosted the event in 2015.

This year’s zonal conference runs under the theme: “Scouting, promoting peace for sustainable development”.

The theme is in line with the scouts’ messengers of peace philosophy where they are encouraged to promote trans0quillity in their communities for sustainable development.

The conference will run concurrently with the Youth Forum and the International training course.

Manicaland Scouts Association chairman Ernest Mungwari urged scouts and their leaders to utilise the opportunity and learn new things from other scouts from other regions.

“This is an important event on the scout calendar and it provides a great opportunity for our scouts mix and mingle with scouts from the region. It is a great chance for us to learn from others. Manicaland is a learning province and we should maximise it. We will definitely learn a lot as Manicaland. I am calling upon all leaders and rovers to come forward and be part of this event,” he
