ACCIDENT is an unexpected eventuality. Drivers should exercise maximum caution when approaching with high volume of pedestrians and vendors, especially at N Richards and Evergreen in Rusape. The former has a pedestrian crossing point that links N Richards Wholesalers and the main bus terminus, but unfortunately innocent lives are being needlessly lost due to reckless driving by some motorists, some of whom are unlicensed drivers. Vendors and pedestrians should also stick to the traditional warning of looking both sides of the road before crossing. Take care of your or one’s life, once lost its never recovered. —RRT Secretariat

Members of the public and all motorists should observe and respect all road signs. These road signs are not there for beautification of roads, but are there to communicate a message that should be respected by all and sundry.— RRT

The N Richards pedestrian crossing in Rusape is fast proving to be a dangerous crossing area to both motorists and pedestrians. The situation is made worse by the street vendors and money changers swarming the entrance leading to the crossing point and along the road leading to Vengere. In 2017, 80-year-old Mbuya Chando, of Vengere was run over by a haulage truck and on Wednesday another fatal accident involving two kombis occurred there. We are appealing to the Rusape Town Council engineering division to come up with a solution before more lives are lost. Motorists are also not stopping at the pedestrian crossing line and we hope police can easily enforce this. Pedestrians and motorists must exercise extreme caution when approaching that place. — Rusape Residents Trust ****

Let me take this opportunity to congratulate President Mnangagwa for winning the just ended elections. The court has declared him the President of the second Republic and he has since been inaugurated. I would also like to congratulate ZANU-PF emerging victoriously. What we now need are unifiers and nation-builders. — Queens Chuma

The moment we realise that we are all Zimbabwean and that the country has enough for all us together, I am sure we will be able to live in harmony asone.Wemighthavedifferentpoliticalpersuasions and affiliations, but we can still work together to build a better Zimbabwe for all. — Unifier

ZANU-PF as a party has been entrusted to lead the country. Voters made this choice knowing very well that you are capable. Let us the journey and with all the support every Zimbabwean can render, together we will boost this economy once again. To the opposition parties, in every competition there is one winner no matter how good you can all be. Let’s keep that in mind and accept defeat. — Mutare

USA President Mr Donald Trump wants to bully us into submitting to his country’s unjustified demands to place MDC at the helm of Zimbabwean leadership. Zimbabwe will never be a colony again. — Bodo

The President ED is right that we should expend positive energy to improve the national economy. If corruption is dealt with decisively, old polices sharpened, new ones crafted and re-engagement aggressively swiftly widened and implemented by the new dispensation, surely the economy will improve. — William

It was sad to know of the passing of Mutare comedian Mascones. He was an entertainer par excellence. I used to enjoy the way he would sing and rattle. Go well my brother. — Mabika B

Water supply in Rusape has been very poor of late. There tapes are dry I Tait Ave, Chimurenga, Chingaira, Lesapi, Nyanga Drive and Gopal Avenue, not to mention Vengere. Correct me if I am wrong, but I would like to think the previous acting Town Engineer would constantly engage with resident and respond to their grievances. The newly recruited guy is aloof and hardly appreciates the concerns of the citizenry. Council no longer respond to faults promptly. Who would want an engineer who is not sensitive to the residents’ concerns, aspirations and grievances? The new engineer has presided over acute water problems, and at best should be relieved of his duties. We wonder how he passed his probation. If you talk to workers under him they will tell you he is an aloof character and enjoys his office environment and is hardly on the ground. — Concerned Residents
