Shumba, Mhere square off
TWO of the country’s top gospel musicians, Mathias Mhere and Blessing Shumba have promised to put up scintillating performances when they share the stage for the first time at Spiritual Spectacles Night Part 2 crusade to be held in Dangamvura tonight (Friday).
Mhere and Shumba who are both apostles and prolific preachers in separate interviews said they would take the opportunity to preach through music as well as entertain scores of people expected to throng the spacious Boka Grounds.
The crusade will be hosted by Goodness and Mercy Ministries founder Prophet Tapiwa Freddy. Prophet Freddy will be coming to the eastern border city for the second time after last year’s hugely-attended crusade which saw thousands of people from as far as neighbouring Mozambique receiving healing and prophecies.
Mathias Mhere is currently riding high with new album Panogara nyasha which contains danceable and soulful tracks such as Wadya Muchero, Sarafina, and Matables. The two will share the stage with gospel diva Agatha Murudzwa.
“God will be with us as we preach through music. We are ready for event. I am happy to share the stage with Shumba.
“It is my honour and I am happy. We believe many people will repent and turn to God after our performances,” said Mhere.
Shumba, popularly known as the Psalmist, said he would play a blend of old and new songs from his rich discography. He however, revealed that he would not release a new album this year paving way for other upcoming gospel artistes to shine. The 38-year old musician is riding high with his latest album titled ‘My Season’ and a DVD compilation titled ‘Parables Volume 1’. Soulful tracks contained on ‘My Season’ include ‘Changa chakajaira’, ‘Ndinotenda’, ‘Ndinosimudza muchinjikwa’, ‘Zvichanaka’ and ‘Takakunda kare’, among others.
“It is good to share the stage with Mhere. We are looking forward to have a blissful night. We will play a blend of old and new music.
“It should be noted however that we are not going to release any new project this year. We will do that early next year,” he said. Prophet Freddy said:

“It is a night where people will receive spiritual healing and delivered from several infirmities,” he said.
