I AM saddened by Rusape horror accident, and some of these buses should have their licences revoked — Dada Chikanga.

How long shall road accidents continue to claim innocent precious lives while we stand aside and look — CTM.

I would like to wish speedy recovery to those passengers who were injured in the Smart Express-Bolt Cutter buses crash near Rusape tollgate. To the deceased, may their departed souls rest in eternal peace. May the good Lord console the bereaved relatives and friends — Ticha Bee, Bonda Mission.

***** Following the Rusape horror accident that killed 50 innocent people (mostly breadwinners), Government should introduce highway speed cameras and also make it mandatory for all public vehicles to be installed with speed governors and trackers linked directly to VID to identify offenders. This would then mean they can be alerted of improper driving in time and intercept the culprits. If a bus has to pay for inspection and passenger licence, then the package should also include installation of a tracker linked to VID — Worried Traveller.

Swift trucks used to have speed limiters, which if one drives beyond 80km/hr, will beep and if you do it continuously, would cut off engine. It also records your driving behaviour and upon arrival at depot, the transport managers would download all the data and take appropriate action on the driver. This explains why you hardly find Swift trucks involved in accidents. I do not know whether they are still using the devices, but this used to be the case in the 80s and mid 90s. My father used to drive those trucks. Why not install mandatory speed governors on these killing machines? — Concerned Citizen.

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28, ESV) — Pastor Joe.

Are our local traditional leaders thinking of performing cleansing rituals at the Smart Express-Bolt Cutter buses accident scene? Losing 50 people in one accident is not a joke. It’s common knowledge that such accident scene becomes black spots and we might continue losing innocent lives on that same spot if the deceased spirits are not appeased. We all know of avenging spirits crying for appeasement — Inquisitive.

Our chiefs are mobile; they have nice cars given to them by the Government. They should drive to the scene and do what they are supposed to do. I understand that there are some who still do it the traditional way, and if we can have those at the forefront the better. If we no longer have chiefs playing such roles because they have embraced Christianity, then pastors should lead with prayer rituals — Traditionalist.

***** Zimbabweans could be experiencing excruciating moments due to the economic meltdown, but should always remember that unity is paramount and a virtue. It is an open secret that unity can diminish our weakness, increase our strength and keep our heads above the waters. It is also possible that with unity small businesses may be able to lobby and win huge contracts. Our voice must be amplified as we focus on re-building our nation. Unity should be given a chance. — Terrence Mwedzi, Osborne

The agricultural season is upon us, it is vital for government to support serious farmers and offer them short-term and long term loans since agriculture is the backbone of our economy. The government has to continue taking the lead to finance such national programmes to improve food security in the country. — Mwedzi.

World over there is no country with total peace, in Zimbabwe we have our own economic challenges, America has raging veld fires and gun shooting; Middle East has its own; South Africa is battling high crime rate; North Africa is battling bombs; Central Africa is battling the deadly Ebola disease; Asia has floods and earthquakes, not to mention cancers and pollution in Europe. If you think that think Zimbabwe is worse off, then you are still green, our challenges are far better than most countries — Wise Man of the East.

1Ch 4:10 Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request — Reverend 3D.
