Barcelona eye shock move for Morata

-

BARCELONA are seeking reinforcements up front and may have landed on a shock swoop for Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata when the window opens next month.

Morata has struggled to command a regular spot in the first-team at Stamford Bridge since arriving from Real Madrid in the summer of 2017.

And as he continues to flatter to deceive under Maurizio Sarri he could soon find himself out of favour and heading towards the exit.

Morata's agents have been in touch with La Liga's leaders over a possible January deal for the Spanish international, according to The Mirror.

They report that a loan move until the end of the season is the most likely course of action, with the option of making it permanent in the summer.

The 26-year-old is seeking firstteam football, which he is not getting at Chelsea.

Olivier Giroud has been preferred in recent weeks while Eden Hazard was handed a central role in the win over Manchester City on Saturday.

Barcelona are seeking cover for Luis Suarez, who is receiving treatment for a knee injury that could restrict his availability over the course of the campaign.

The Catalan giants are short of central options in the front three, with first reserve Munir failing to fire and Ousmane Dembele and Lionel Messi better used in wide areas.

Morata may prove an unpopular choice given his history, having come through the Real Madrid academy.

Though it is not unheard of for a player to switch been the Nou Camp and the Bernabeu, it is not a regular occurrence.
