Treat your loved ones this Valentine

-

WELCOME to a unique week – the week of love! Show extra love for your loved ones this Valentine’s weekend. No excuses, make a plan and pour out your love. Valentine is not always about spending big on your loved ones, but reminding them that you love them, no matter what. Valentine is not only about what guys do for their spouses, but vice versa. However, the trend is normally that men show love towards, and women reciprocate.

Why is this?

Women show men love daily through cleaning, cooking, buying them stuffs, doing what they don’t want to do for them, raising kids alone sometimes even when dad is there, budgeting, making sure their men are happy or taken care of and so forth.

So men, sometimes just making a special meal for your loved ones say a lot. Money will always never be enough, so please do not use that as an excuse for not getting your loved ones something. Even kids can do something. Kids can make cards for mama and daddy by sticking flowers etc on paper at home. Teachers can help kids make little hearts at school with beautiful messages on them. Even baking mom something is nice.

Trust me kids are creative, encourage them to do something. Taking all the girls in your family for ice-cream is nice and simple. Men and boys should learn to show love to women at home (mama, sister, granny, aunty, etc). Showing love on Valentine’s Day is not attached to sexual benefit; it’s about the relationship. No matter how young you are, you can find flowers in the garden or on your way home and take them to women at home. Even if they laugh, they are not laughing at you; women sometimes show appreciation by laughing. If you can afford to buy something with your pocket money – go ahead and make it as special as you can. If you can cook, do it! Women love it when men make an effort to cook.

Lovers, if you do nothing for your partner, it might spell trouble. Even if you are a man who shows love all the time, what will it hurt to join the rest of the world for one day and show a little extra love to your “madam boss”? You knew this day was coming and should have made a plan. But if you failed, it is better late than never.

Gift baskets are a nice personal touch that is also useful to the receiver. Fruit baskets are not just for sending to people in hospitals. Fruit baskets are wonderful as a healthy gift. You can even make your

own by putting assorted fruits in a basket or fancy plate, add a chocolate or two, maybe her favourite drink etc, a card with something beautiful hand written and have someone take it to her work place or home. Think outside the box, you are never too old or young to show love.

For those who can afford to spend money, please go ahead. Truth be told, many women appreciate it when a little more money is spent on them on this special occasion. I have a friend who took his wife on a weekend date in at a hotel and she still talks about this years later. “Food is love” I say!

So take her or him out for a special breakfast, lunch or dinner on Valentine. Buying her a special gift (perfume, makeup kit, chocolate, etc) is awesome. Not all men can be with their women to celebrate, so book her an appointment at the hairdresser for her hair or nails or makeup. If you can afford it, book her for a massage. If she likes

money, go ahead and give her money to spend as she pleases. If you know what her love language is, you will know what to give or do for her. If you are totally lost, think of something she often craves for.

And ladies, I know you expect your men to make a plan, but not every guy is romantic. So why not hint to him about Valentine if you want something or tell someone close to him that you are expecting something so that they tell him.

Don’t get mad and act in an unappreciative manner if he does not meet or exceed your expectations. The receiver needs to show appreciation no matter the size or cost of the gift. Remember times are hard, even if your man has lots of money; appreciate what he gives you.

Love is free and powerful; allow that force to guide you this Valentine’s Day or month.
