Netone in $10m profit

-

MOBILE phone provider NetOne, has made a major turnaround and realised a $10 million in the trading year ending 2018, after having plunged to a $77 million loss.

Speaking at a customer appreciation event hosted last Friday, the company’s chief executive officer Mr Lazarus Muchenje, whose speech was read on his behalf by acting chief commercial officer Mr Nyaradzai Shoko, said there were several game-changing innovations the company had tabled to define its new face.

“I am pleased to say, as evidenced by the historic turnaround that took us from a $77 million loss to a $10 million profit, and other milestones we have attained in 2018 alone, we are on the right track,” he said.

The event was meant to recognise the organisation’s customers for turning its vision into reality.

“The only way to become world class is to become dedicated to providing our most important stakeholder, the customer, with quality products delivered with excellence. It is this innovative drive that saw us launch our Zimra Online Payments solution two weeks ago. This is an innovation which in simple terms means you can honour your Zimra commitments by dialling *554# but of course you have to be on OneMoney first. This is just one of many game-changing innovations that define the new NetOne. This idea of world class excellence is what birthed our customer-centric back-2-basics strategy,” he said.

He added: “When the country adopted the multi-currency regime at the beginning of the decade, some of our post-paid customers woke up to find themselves owing balances in US dollar, and the ensuing legal wrangles damaged your credit ratings. For these trangressions, I, as the CEO of NetOne apologise.” Speaking at the same event, the zone commander for Mashonaland East and Manicaland, Mr Zvinoera Chabudapasi said: “NetOne is committed to provide seamless communication solutions delivered with an edge. We remain customer centric and NetOne is there to provide the bedrock for economic development through the network and it’s various offerings.”
