Shumba, Chipanga for ‘Heal Chimanimani’ concert

-

REVELLERS in Chimanimani will today be in for a rare treat as a galaxy of artistes pitting Hosiah Chipanga and Blessing Shumba, among others, take turns to entertain them courtesy of the: “Heal Chimanimani Concert” slated for Ngangu.

The gig is meant to console victims of the furious Cyclone Idai which killed more than 300 people and left a trail of displacements and destruction in Chimanimani and Chipinge early March.

The cyclone had a devastating impact on human life, infrastructure, the local economy and livelihoods, thereby exacerbating poverty, food insecurity and ruining the survivors’ lives.

The carnival is being organised by Diamond FM.

One of the organisers Peter Madondo said: “The event is meant to console victims of the Cyclone Idai disaster and provide them with the requisite psycho-social support. We are happy that preparations are progressing very well and would like to urge the people of Chimanimani to be part of this exciting carnival by coming in their numbers.”

Apart from Blessing Shumba and veteran wordsmith Hosiah Chipanga, the cast also includes Dorcas Moyo, Tinashe Murigo, Caff and Darlie Boy.

Artistes from Chimanimani will also take part in the musical event scheduled to stretch from 10am to 6pm.

Chipanga, who boasts a rich discography, is expected to be at his best while Dorcas Moyo, who is also a good performer, is expected to nourish the hearts of revellers with her soulful songs.

Revellers will also be looking forward to soul-touching lyrics such as “Secret”, “Ndakamuona”, “Uvepo hwenyu” and “Jesu Kristu” from Blesing Shumba’s new album “Pisarema”.
