COMMUNITIES in Matabeleland have partnered with the Government in the refurbishment of local hospitals and clinics which is very key for development. Rural communities bankrolled by people living in the Diaspora have been central to the building and renovations of clinics in Matabeleland South, namely Bulilima, Beitbridge and Esigodini. The participation of citizens in the development of health facilities has been remarkable and we pray that it overlaps to other areas especially in Manicaland to better the lives of people. — Nomzamo Gara

I would like to applaud the Health and Child Care Deputy Minister, Dr Mangwiro’s impromptu visit to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital. It was shocking to note that such a big institution is operating without records of the medicines in stock and those disbursed. That is why we see backyard surgeries and clinics sprouting up in the city where they treat patients and dispense drugs that would have been stolen from hospitals. This should be a wake-up call to the hospital superintendent and all employees. Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital is just a provincial hospital by its name, but its standards do not match that status. — Karirwi Fungai

Is this what we want our youths to be as Zimbabweans? They are lazy. They have all the time under the sun, drinking beer and experimenting with all sorts of drugs. Their dressing and hairstyles say it all, it has gone haywire. We did not liberate Zimbabwe to have youths who do not even respect their parents. A liberated Zimbabwe does not mean freedom to break the laws. The greatness of a nation is in its people. Youths should not dream having it easy. In life you make sacrifices to do good for good returns to the country. — RMC

Local industry needs to be as bold and as aggressive as Government in investing and growing their own brands. They need to step up to the plate and take the lead in realising the mutually shared goal of creating a prosperous Zimbabwe. With determination and focus, together we can make Zimbabwe great again. — Pamela Siba

There has been an increase of road traffic accidents in our province which is worrisome. Driv- ers please drive with caution on the roads and save lives. I have also noticed a lot of impatient drivers in Mutare, drivers who do not believe in giving way to other vehicles even pedestrians. The driving is so different form that in Harare where drivers now understand that you can also give way to traffic on busy roads, even if there will be no road traffic sign in place. When it comes to the issue of the issuance of drivers’ licences, one of the problems that comes to mind is corruption.

The big question is on how some of the current drivers plying our roads and those at whose hands countless souls have been lost or maimed obtained their driving licences and how they were issued. Most services in respect to this aspect are rendered in Zimbabwe out of bribes. Instead of a licence being issued out as a certificate of competency, many drivers are using licences they “bought”. It is the duty of the responsible arms of the Government to ensure that only competent drivers are issued with licences. — Baison Muchineripi, Florida
