Python and lizard joins family?

POOR handling of money spinning charms has allegedly backfired as a Nyanga man is now up in arms with his brothers who claim that they are now being forced to share their home with a python and a lizard.

The matter came to light after Johannes Nyamahumba’s brothers — Matthew and Lovemore — dragged him to Acting Chief Saunyama’s court.

The duo is accusing Johannes of mishandling the lucky charms that he allegedly acquired from a local spiritual healer.

The family is from Nyamahumba Village under Chief Saunyama’s area.

“A snake and a lizard were seen chasing each other at my homestead soon after my son’s death. The two reptiles went into the house and when we looked for them, we could not find them.

“However on many occasions, they have been spotted leaving and entering the house, but we are unable to corner them.

“We went to a prophet and he told us that they belonged to Johannes. We even consulted renowned Nyanga traditional healer, Sekuru Mukotsanjera, who also said Johannes is behind this,” explained Matthew.

He said the family is now living in fear as it is staying with the reptiles under one roof.

The snake and lizard are often spotted entering and leaving the house in the morning and evening. Once they are inside it is said they become invisible.

Matthew said Sekuru Mukotsanjera told his family that Johannes acquired lucky charms from a white garment prophet (name supplied).

He also said they were advised that the cold-blooded animals will inflict deaths in the family if nothing is done to address the issue.

When the Nyamahumbas visited the said prophet’s shrine, Johannes’ name was found in his visitors’ records.

However, Johannes denied all the allegations

He denied ever seeing a python and a lizard at their homestead.

He also made a counter-accusation, saying if indeed the reptiles had moved into their home, then they belong to Matthew, adding that his brother possesses some goblins which he allegedly uses to look after his cattle.

“When I consulted the said prophet, he said Matthew acquired some lucky charms. I am innocent and want my good reputation in the society to be restored. I am prepared to appear before any traditional healer or spiritualist to clear my name,” he said.

“They accuse me of being a wizard but l am not. Matthew’s son was electrocuted after climbing an electricity pole. How can this be wizardly?

“The boy was electrocuted after he tampered with Zesa property. There was no electricity when he climbed the pole. When electricity was restored, he was yet to descend from the pole and was electrocuted. They now accuse me of causing his death, where is the link?” quizzed Johannes.

Acting Chief Saunyama granted Johannes’ request and ordered the brothers to visit four different traditional healers in Makoni, Zimunya, Marange and Mutasa to get more insight on the reptile isssue.

The family will appear back in court on February 11.
