Cde Mugadza’s five months of delivery
AFTER wrestling the Mutasa South Constituency from the opposition during the March 26 by-elections, ZANU PF legislator, Honourable Misheck Mugadza has proved to be a true New Dispensation warrior as he has spearheaded tangible projects that have changed the face of some parts of the constituency barely five months into office.
Tomorrow, all roads will be leading to Mutasa South for the victory celebrations which will coincide with the commissioning of a state-of-art classroom block and a computer laboratory at Beaulieu Primary School in Ward 22; as well as Hauling Clinic in Ward 25.
Once a dilapidated farm house that was serving as a satellite school for Tsvingwe Primary School, Beaulieu Primary School has sprouted into a beauty whose eye-catching structures are turning heads of visitors to the institution.
The school has an enrolment of more than 200 learners, a figure which is expected to rise following its massive sprucing up.
Through devolution funds availed to Mutasa Rural District Council and the Constituency Development Fund, a two-classroom block was completed in just five months.
The country’s telecoms regulatory board, the Postal and Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (POTRAZ) also came to the party and facilitated the construction of a computer laboratory that will be an envy of many established schools.
For the Ward 25 clinic, Cde Mugadza teamed up with Mutasa RDC chairperson, Councillor Panadotis Dombropolous, to come up with up a new clinic which has brought relief to a community that was travelling for more than 10km to access health services at Old Mutare Mission Hospital.
“The March 26 by-election victory was very sweet for us, having grabbed the seat from the opposition.
“This was through sheer hard work in the constituency. In 2018, things did not go our way, but we did not leave the constituency after the disappointing loss. We continued working closely with the community, developing our country brick-by-brick and stepby-step through tangible projects, leaving no place and person behind,” said Cde Mugadza.
He added: “We have been targeting all wards to make sure that there is either a health centre or clinic. We also made great strides in upgrading our almost forgotten satellite schools in the constituency.”
Cde Mugadza said they moved a gear up in the development agenda after the by-election victory.
“We refurbished Beaulieu Primary School, which is in the resettlement area. Learners used to attend school either in the farm house or bans.
“We made sure the school was electrified and put up a small computer lab for the learners. We then engaged POTRAZ to come and assist in upgrading the computer lab. I am very excited with the sterling job done by POTRAZ there.
“We also constructed classroom blocks and renovated the old farm house into two classrooms. We also fenced and painted the whole school using CDF funds. A borehole was also drilled and water challenges are now a thing of the past,’ said Hon Mugadza.
Turning to Hauling Clinic, he highlighted that it emerged from a rundown farm house.
“Together with Councillor Dombropolous, we renovated the farm house at Hauling Farm and turned it into a clinic.
“The clinic is already up and running. It is a great development in that ward because there was no clinic or health centre there. People used to travel more than 10km to Old Mutare Mission Hospital.
“We have more projects taking place in the constituency. We are putting up another clinic at Chidazembe using devolution funds and part of CDF. It will be up and running very soon,” said Cde Mugadza.
Turning to Saturday’s celebrations, Hon Mugadza said everyone is welcome.
“Let us all come and merry-make. We have more than 12 herd of cattle to be slaughtered because we want people to eat and drink as we celebrate the sterling job they did in defending the gains of the liberation struggle.”
Entertainment will be galore as top local musicians, including Tryson Chimbetu, Chief Hwenje, Baba Harare, Hosiah Chipanga, Hungwe Stars and a host of others, will keep people on their feet.
