Manicaland Agric Show explodes

- Liberty Dube

THE 2022 edition of the Manicaland Agricultural Show which kicked off yesterday (Thursday) is expected to be bigger and better.

Over the past two years, Covid-19 lockdown and safety measures had seen the show downsizing to comply with national and World Health Organisation guidelines.

The four-day event will be characterised with business days, exhibition, the official opening and entertainment festivities.

Last year’s event had a total of 110 exhibitors.

More exhibitors are expected to be part of this year’s annual fete.

Industry and Commerce Minister, Dr Sekai Nzenza is expected to officially open the show today (Friday), before touring the stands.

Manicaland Agricultural Society administrator, Mrs Pedzisai Rusero said it is all systems go for the annual event.

She said this year’s event will be bigger and better when compared to last year’s as the number of participants was restricted due to Covid-19 regulations.

“The show will be officially opened today by Minister Nzenza. She will also have an opportunity to tour the stands. There will also be a cocktail where Minister Nzenza will interface with stakeholders on Friday evening.

“Entertainment activities will be the major menu for Saturday’s events.

“The star attraction will be Winky D, while jumping castles, water slides, horse riding and drum majorettes will also be part of the festivities.

“We are happy with the way preparations have been going,” she said.

This year’s edition is being held under the theme ‘Unlocking value of industry in the new era.’

More than 30 000 people are expected to be part of the event whose curtains come down on Sunday.
