AChikanga, Mutare man has resorted to threatening a married woman in an attempt to arm-twist her into having an affair with him.

This emerged when Rudo Mujaya applied for a peace order against her neighbour, Samson Maurayi.

Mujaya said Maurayi has been pestering her for love for some time now.

Maurayi, also married, allegedly threatened to shoot Mujaya after she turned him down.

She said Maurayi is also in the habit of stalking her and spreading falsehoods to the effect that they were in a relationship.

Maurayi is also claiming that he sired Mujaya’s second child.

All this has since fallen into the ears of Mujaya’s husband.

Mujaya said Maurayi is in the habit of climbing a tree outside her house and threatening to remain there until she accepts his proposal, failure of which he has threatened to shoot her with a gun.

Mujaya said this usually happens during her husband’s absence.

She said she is now leaving in fear of her life.

Mujaya said at one time she reported the matter to the police and Maurayi was advised to stop his unbecoming behaviour.

The police also advised her to apply for a peace order at the civil court.

“I am afraid that his actions might ruin my marriage as he at times phones or sends me text inappropriate messages,” said Mujaya.

However, Maurayi denied all the allegations and insisted that Mujaya is single.

He said he only climbs the tree to collect leaves to feed his goats.

Mutare magistrate, Mr Xavier Chipato granted the peace order in Mujaya’s favour.

The order will be valid for one year and it bars Maurayi from threatening, insulting and disturbing his neighbour’s peace.

Maurayi was also fined $5 000 for criminal nuisance.
