Hotel ups game in guest safety, community relations
GOLDEN Peacock Villa Hotel is determined to ensure the security and safety of its guests and retain its professionalism, while maintaining its excellent relations with communities through social responsibility programmes.
In an interview this week, Golden Peacock general manager, Mr Adonis Mutigwe said guests are first and foremost people and the hotel’s core business is to ensure that a visit and stay at the hotel is memorable and worth re-doing.The hotel hogged the limelight recently after an intruder, Phillip Mutende (36), who was semi-naked and wielding a sharp machete, besieged the place and destroyed property before armed police officers swiftly moved in to arrest him.
“It was an unfortunate incident, but it was handled well, thanks to our security systems as well as the police. We will continue offering our visitors and guests some shield by ensuring that their stay and experience at the hotel is memorable.
“We are determined to retain our excellent relations and rapport with communities, individuals and the business community to create a win-win situation. The hotel continues to spread its wings across all sectors of the community.
“Relationships form part of our nature as a brand. We are glad that we managed to partner local soccer academy, MAJESA, and hosted their send-off ceremony where they raised Manicaland Province’s flag by lifting the inaugural Marvellous Nakamba Foundation Under-17 football tournament in Bulawayo recently,” said Mr Mutigwe.
Late last year, the hotel handed over bed linen, hand sanitisers, face masks, rice, maizemeal and salt, among other things, to Mutare Probation Hostel. The hostel is facing a myriad of challenges in catering for the children’s day-to-day needs.
The hotel was also among key stakeholders who participated at the just-ended Osborne Summer Festival, co-organised by Diamond FM and ZimParks. Golden Peacock sponsored a cooking competition during the festival and winners won several prizes such as cash and accommodation vouchers.
“We will continue hosting such cooking competitions and we are in the process of making it a provincial competition where tertiary institutions will take part. We are glad with the journey we have travelled so far and the support we have received from stakeholders, individuals and businesses,” said Mr Mutigwe.
The hotel, which is an accredited threestar facility, has four big conference rooms with a combined hosting capacity of 1 200 guests, making it the biggest conferencing option in Manicaland Province. It is currently refurbishing some of its infrastructure to meet international standards.
