No to drugs

While we welcome the naming and shaming of drug barons and peddlers by the police, law enforcement agents must do more by busting the syndicates’ bases. The courts also need to expeditiously prosecute the suspects, while those convicted must be jailed for long periods in order to deter other would-be offenders. A very tough stance should be taken against all those involved in drug and substance abuse, either as suppliers or users. We have to nip this problem in the bud before it goes out of hand. No to drugs. —

Sakubva Stadium renovations welcome Public-private partnerships are the way to go to have a lasting solution to the problems bedevilling Sakubva Stadium. Over the years, the facility has been condemned as not being up to standard to host Premiership games. Last season, the stadium was not available to domestic top-flight games and its custodians, Mutare City Council has carried out major refurbishments on it in readiness for next season. As a long term solution, the local authority must court and partner local private companies to further upgrade the facility. The business community must also play ball as Sakubva Stadium is for the benefit of the entire Manicaland Province. —
