DeMbare Chipinge-bound for pre-season duel
THE country’s best-supported football team, Dynamos, for the first time in history will make the long trip to Chipinge District for a pre-season preparatory encounter against GreenFuel FC, set for GreenFuel Stadium in Chisumbanje tomorrow (Saturday).
The match starts at 3pm.
Never before had Dynamos played a football match in Chipinge District, not even in the urban part of the district where the best of football clubs in history of the farming town have only known the Eastern Region Division One League as their ceiling of club competitions.
GreenFuel chairman, Fred Moyo, confirmed that his team will be hosting DeMbare on Saturday.
“Yes, we will be playing against Dynamos on Saturday (tomorrow), and this is part of our preseason preparations as a club. We hope we will have many locals coming to watch their team and support it from the word go.
“As a club, we felt it proper to engage a big team of Dynamos’ calibre as we start our preparations so that we build on the momentum from the first encounter.
“We are all aware that Dynamos enjoys a huge following across the country, and we are expecting a huge turnout of fans for this encounter since we are taking it seriously,” said Moyo.
The Chisumbanje-based Castle Lager Premiership outfit, GreenFuel FC, will have a rough picture of their strengths and weaknesses when they date Harare giants, Dynamos, in this potentially exciting preseason friendly encounter.
GreenFuel FC coach, Rodwell Dhlakama told Post Sport that his team is well prepared for the match against Dynamos and they are looking forward to an exciting match.
“We are taking this match seriously as a team and we hope to get a good result from it. That will boost the confidence, not only for the players, but the supporters as well.
“This is also a match we intend to assess our strengths and weaknesses so that we make the necessary amends before the 2024 season kicks-off. Since we have new and old players on board, this is also an opportunity for them to fit in the team and gel as a unit,” said Dhlakama.
After surviving relegation in the penultimate round of the 2023 Castle Lager Premiership fixtures, the Ethanol Boys, who are also fondly referred to as Boys DzeNharo, are leaving no stone unturned in putting their house in order to make a lasting impact in the forthcoming 2024 season.
Post Sport has it on good authority that the Billy Rautenbach-owned side has completed the signing of the Hwange duo of Godwin Goriyati and Medrick Mandeya as they seek to bolster their squad.
The Chisumbanje-based outfit has also acquired the services of former Harare City player, Learnmore Muyambo, who was once pursuing his career in South Africa.
The Dhlakama-coached team is also understood to have roped in gifted former
Harare City and Yadah Stars forward, Jerry Chipangura.
As if that was not enough, GreenFuel also acquired the services of Tino Meke who was with relegated Craneborne FC last season.
However, reports linking talented attacking midfielder, Denver Mukamba with GreenFuel for a possible reunion with Dhlakama appear to be mere bar talk as the former Warriors fringe player is now linked to possible move to Highlanders.
GreenFuel boss, Fred Moyo said: “We are definitely assembling a team that is capable of competing favourably in the top-flight league. After surviving relegation, we are now focused in having an impact in the league, at the same time being mindful of promoting local talent in our marginalised Chisumbanje area.”
