Act decisively on Gimboki squatters
We welcome Government’s stance on the eviction of illegal settlers in Gimboki as they were not procedurally allocated the land. This was causing disorder among the dwellers, while unscrupulous land barons were ripping off desperate land seekers. Unplanned and haphazard settlements are an eyesore and a negation of town planning and the subsequent economic development. The full wrath of the law must be visited on all those involved in illegal dealings and handing them lengthy jail sentences can act as a deterrent measure. — Petros Rangwani

Prioritising health issues laudable
Government must be commended for its sterling efforts in promoting the health of the people through various initiatives and programmes that address the prevention of disease outbreaks as well as treatment. Measures put in place to tackle cholera and polio such as vaccination blitzkriegs and treatment centres have been effective in curtailing the spread of the diseases. A robust healthcare system is huge currency for a nation’s development. — Sekai Muktukwa **********
Take bullying by its horns
It looks like cases of bullying are rampant in schools and some of them are going unreported. This is an issue that has to be addressed and rooted out immediately. It requires collective efforts by various stakeholders like the education ministry, schools, parents and guardians, communities and the learners themselves to achieve the desired outcome. The physical and psychological effects of bullying are too ghastly to contemplate if it gets out of hand. — Itai Mangenje ********** of Sakubva Stadium crucial Having Premiership soccer action back at Sakubva Stadium has brought excitement to followers of the game in Manicaland. With Bikita Minerals adopting the venue as their home ground, coupled with other teams in the lower division likely to use the facility, the stadium may get overused.
It is, therefore, important for the custodians of the venue to regularly maintain the whole facility, especially the pitch, and ensure that it remains up to standard.
We do not want a situation where the stadium will deteriorate and banned for use again. If it means involving all the teams that will be using the ground in maintaining it, so be it because we cannot afford the setback of the stadium being red-flagged again and waste another season or two carrying out refurbishments. —
