Health tracker system a great milestone in fight
The introduction of the HIV health tracker system by Zimbabwe Health Interventions in Manicaland is a crucial step towards meeting the target to achieve zero HIV and AIDS infections by the Year 2030, and the province is leading in implementing this project. The tracker is easy to use in that information of both the mother and the baby is paired and recorded in the Ministry of Health and Child Care registers at the nearest health facilities. Expecting HIV positive mothers are monitored up until the time they give birth in an effort to prevent mother-to-child transmissions. Constant checkups that are conducted in both urban and rural areas on children born by HIV positive mothers are done to ensure that they receive the appropriate tests which prevent HIV and AIDS transmission. In the event that a child did not receive adequate health services, emergency measures are undertaken for the child to undergo treatment which reduces the spread of HIV and AIDS. This is a game changer in the fight against the epidemic in Zimbabwe. However, the HIV health tracker system must be introduced to all the provinces across Zimbabwe in order to attain the goal and pursuit of ending HIV and AIDS by 2030. —Ashley Sitori
Dorcas Moyo strikes the right chords again
Dorcas Moyo’s latest album, Mvere Dzabvepi is pregnant with well-polished compositions. She is such a great lyricist and songwriter of our time, and the bulk of her songs connect with millions of souls. The artiste’s dynamic style is also captivating and truly inspiring. I personally love her music wholeheartedly and she is among the best gospel musicians our country has produced. —Terrence Mwedzi
Hauna banana game-changer
processing plant a
Establishing a banana powder/flour processing plant at Hauna Growth Point in Mutasa is a game changer that will go a long way, not only for the district, but the entire province in tackling some of the challenges horticultural farmers grapple with. This welcome development will greatly enhance the livelihoods of farmers and communities in Manicaland as it will also create employment. Given that the province is a major producer of fruits, the processing plant will improve beneficiation and value addition, while also driving production and productivity up. Walter Muchena
Manica Diamonds shining like true gems
I am excited by Manica Diamonds’current form in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League championship marathon. After starting the season on a disappointing note, the Gems Boys have rediscovered the touch that saw them finishing as runners-up last year. Well done to the team for turning it around and if they continue with their foot on the pedal, this could be their year for glory in the league and cup competitions. They must avoid getting carried away and continue working hard. Good going and all the best for the season. —
